“This Rolling Mortar is a spice grinder that breaks the “mortar and pestle” archetype. In contrast with banging the mortar with pestle which is difficult to keep the content inside the mortar, the JIA Inc. Rolling Mortar features a wooden wheel that rolls elegantly back and forth to crush the content inside the uniquely shaped, half-pipe mortar. It was designed to keep the content from flying all over the place like many commercially available mortar and pestles. By reflecting on the Chinese history, the designer was able to find solution that sets the design apart.”
